Notice to the Public - UPCAT Review Centers
From: http://www.up.edu.ph/features2.php?i=137
The UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES wishes to inform interested applicants to the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) that it has not accredited any review centers for UPCAT review, and any review centers advertising their services and guaranteeing success in the UPCAT are not, in any way, connected with the University.
Specific attention is called to a website www.upcatreview.com and a print advertisement (in two major dailies) by a certain “Prof. Violy Quintana (former member, UP Testing Committee)” which markets “Secrets to Pass the UPCAT-Revealed!” and guarantees that “you will pass the UPCAT the Sure Way!” and that “through this workshop, the UPCAT will become the easiest college entrance test you’ll ever take.”
The advertisement implies that there are “secrets” to passing the UPCAT and guarantees that attendance at the workshop will make one pass the UPCAT. These assertions and claims are misleading and false, and the University of the Philippines categorically denies any implication that the services being offered by Prof. Quintana and her group are guarantees to passing the UPCAT.
The UPCAT is a professionally designed and professionally administered examination designed to test for the best and the brightest. It is a secure and highly confidential examination and access to the same is limited and restricted. Ms. Quintana and her group and all other review centers have no access to the questions and any implication of such access is false and deceptive.
We ask the public to be more discerning in appreciating the true nature of review centers which are engaged in business, first and exclusively and will use all means at their disposal to market their services. We also put on notice all review centers advertising and guaranteeing success in the UPCAT to cease and desist from making such guarantees which are misleading and utterly false.
